The quote that stood out to me the most in
chapter one was when Hazel was a group and Isaac said "Augustus, please. Let's
return to your struggles. You said that you had feared Oblivion". The
quote stood out to me because he said that he feared Oblivion, which sounds
scary and was also confusing to me because it sounds like something a person
would say if they were going to be blind, but Augustus was going to blind Isaac
was. Augustus was just very depressed because he used to love playing
basketball until one day he stopped because he felt no use in playing if he was
going to lose his leg and get a prosthetic leg. The other reason I chose this
quote was because this quote can reflect to my life. This didn't happen to me
but to a stranger that I helped during the summer. It was an elderly woman who
I met and she was struggling with carrying her groceries to her car, I wasn't
going to do anything but my mother tell me to go help her. So I did, she had a
prosthetic and she had a limp because I guess it was uncomfortable. I sort of
felt bad because she didn't have a real leg to do things or even feel pain. I
know that sounds weird but think about it, wouldn't it feel weird for the rest
of your body to feel pain except for that one leg. I just made me think and think and think...
